Who Creates the Content?

Articles on this website are written and/or medically reviewed by Dr Pasindu Abeysundara, MBBS, MRCS.

The purpose of the website is to explain health conditions, symptoms, investigations, treatment options, surgery, recovery and healthy living in language that is easier for the general public to understand.

Sources of Medical Information

Where appropriate, articles are prepared using reliable sources such as:

• national and international clinical guidelines

• recognised professional medical organisations

• government health organisations

• major academic medical institutions

• systematic reviews

• peer-reviewed medical research

Examples may include organisations such as the NHS, NICE, WHO, CDC, NIH and recognised medical and surgical professional bodies.

The most appropriate sources depend on the topic being discussed.

Medical Review

Medical information is reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication.

Health information can change as new evidence and guidelines become available. Important articles may therefore be reviewed and updated when necessary.

Where practical, articles will display the publication date and the date of the most recent medical review or update.

Some articles include a section explaining how I personally approach or explain a medical problem in clinical practice.
